The Workflow Canvas vs Workflow XML Definitions

The XML definition covers every aspect of a Workflow. The Canvas, however, does not control every property defined in the XML definition.

The XML definition covers every aspect of a Workflow. Although the Canvas is an intuitive way to visually model a Workflow, it does not control every property defined in the XML definition, such as:

  • property-change events that trigger actions cannot be defined or edited in the Canvas
  • artifact-creation events that trigger actions cannot be defined or edited in the Canvas
  • webhook actions cannot be defined or edited in the Canvas
If a Webhook Action has been set up within a Workflow Transition, it will appear within the Workflow Canvas as a read-only action.

If a Webhook Action has been set up within a New Artifact event, an indicator will appear within the Workflow Canvas on the top right of the page. The Webhook itself will not be visible on the Canvas.
